Tell the government to protect sea turtles from trawls.

Many of our country’s trawl fisheries accidentally injure and kill
endangered sea turtles by entangling them in their massive Take Action to Stop Offshore Drilling!nets.

Fortunately, there’s a Turtle Excluder Device – or TED – and it’s an
“escape hatch” that allows a sea turtle to wiggle out of the trawl net,
relatively unharmed.

While some fisheries use TEDs, too many do not, and are not required to.

Help convince the government to protect these ancient creatures by
requiring TEDs in all trawl fisheries in the U.S. that operate in areas
with sea turtles.

How simple is this device...sure it may cost a few extra $ but...gosh if you have ever been scuba diving and seen a turtle gracefully swimming by...it is a wonderful experience. These creatures deserve the TED! Please TAKE ACTION NOW as I have done! http://takeaction.oceana.org/campaign.jsp?campaign_KEY=25178

A great Interview with John McCain

Oh boy John why did you choose Gov Palin? Sometime I think you picked her to ensure that Senator Obama would win, and I thank you!

A reporter in Portland Maine, interviewed John McCain about Governer Palin, and of course he could not say anything that has any substance about her....such a poor choice.

The reporter asks...."Well, you say you're sure she has the experience but again I'm just asking for an example - what experience does she have in the field of national security?"

And McCain (basically replies, had to edit out a bunch of ums and miss speaks, oh God another Bush!)....'Sure. Energy. She knows more about energy than probably anyone else in the United States of America. She is the Governor of a state where 20% of our energy supply comes from there and we all know that energy is a critical and vital national security issue. We've got to stop sending 700 billion dollars of American money to countries that don't like us very much. She's very well versed on that issue and she, uh, also represents is a Governor of a state that is right next to Russia and ah, ah, she really understands Russia and their newly aggressive behavior in the world which is also something that we have to be very concerned about.'

Here is the Video of the interview:

Dark Knight

Wednesday night a few Friends and I went out to see Batman The Dark Knight....oh my gosh was that a great movie. And I surly am going to miss Heath Ledger! He was so good...at times his performance would send chills up my spine! Can't wait to purchase the DVD.

Sea The Value!

Oceana – Protecting the World’s Oceans:Sea the Value Report

Oceana conducted a study to determine the value of of ocean resources for the scuba diver in the US. While I know that our ocean resources have value to us as scuba divers, I am not sure that their study reflects true value. My example is that I spent close to$8,000 to go to Palau and Yap...but if their reefs sucked I would not have spent that kind of money to go.
Check out their article....http://www.oceana.org/north-america/what-we-do/dive-into-ocean-conservation/sea-the-value-report/

Oceana Protecting the World's Oceans: Dive Into Ocean Conservation

You know I really do like the work that Oceana is doing for our environment and running across this...just shows how in touch they are with the diving community.

my surgery went well

On Tuesday I had surgery on my left shoulder to clean up the arthritis and remove a bone spur. Surgery took a little over an hour.  I was home by noon, very tired and drugged up. I was sent home with a pain pump fill with a local anesthetic and a cooling wrap for my shoulder, along with some pain pills. I spent most of my day nauseated and sleepy.
Today i have been in more pain, a little nauseated but in general much better.
